Solution focused practice with a family when a child has ADHD

 

Brief description of course

Drawing on the professional textbook Counselling children adolescents and families: A strengths based approach and the evidence-based  Parents Plus Programmes, this presentation will introduce participants to a solution-focused model for working with children, adolescents and families within a child and adolescent mental health context.

Part 1 Understanding ADHD – reviewing the symptoms, causes and treatments for ADHD in children and adolescents.

Part 2 – Introduction to a strengths-based approach to working with children, adolescents and parents in a way that engages them, provides with support and which is more likely to create a working alliance.

Part 3 – Specific interventions for ADHD such as family support, parenting groups, direct work with children and adolescents and child focused groups.
