Workshop: Motivating Your Children and Teenagers, April 2025

This practical online workshop with John Sharry will introduce to parents, how to understand the sources of motivation for children, what barriers they experience in getting organised and how you can help them as parents.

Topics include:

  • Understanding motivation and the interest based nervous system
  • Using motivational strategies for success
  • How to use routines and rewards
  • Building your child’s self-esteem and confidence

This event is suitable for parents of all children and particularly those who might be ADHD or neurodivergent.

Presenter Biography
Prof John Sharry is a social worker and family psychotherapist with over 30 years experience as a child and adolescent mental health professional. He is founder and clinical director of the Parents Plus Charity, an adjunct Professor at the School of Psychology in UCD and an Irish Times Parenting Columnist. He is the author of over 25 positive psychology, parenting books and mental health programmes, including the eight Parents Plus Programmes.
